Hi there. I was wondering if anyone know what this weird tumory looking growth pod thingy is?

Looks like a leafy gall, gall can be cause by various pathogens.
one pathogen that often associated with leafy galls on tobacco and tomatoes is Rhodococcus fascians it can attack various plant , since tobacco and brugmansia are in the same family, that could really be related to Rhodococcus fascians infection. Better remove the affected part, I think.

I was cutting back my Brugmansia yesterday and found the same thing and wondered what it was. I did cut it off. Really strange looking.



@Billythekid did you remove it and did you ever have any further problems after removing the leafy gall?

Last time I saw that it was because I used too much extra nitrogen.

Hey there! Sorry that I am just now getting to this message. Grad school has had me preoccupied.

I ended up leaving it on the tree and it looks like it died in situ.

That highest tear of flowers stands at about 9 ft tall.

I wonder if it was from the grass fertilizer that the groundskeepers use... I think its roots have crossed under the wall and have invaded the grassy area.

earlier this spring. You can imagine how good the whole block smelled.


and this morning:


I trimmed quite a bit of new growth off to keep it under control, but you can see how much deeper the green has gotten. It has been blooming non-stop for the past month.




I do not have small hands, BTW. It is hard to appreciate how yuge these blooms actually were.
