Around here it is a very good selection of tomato plant varieties each spring. Even Home Depot has a good selection. Hicks, a local Nursery has a fabulous selection. Great heirlooms and hybreds both. So I have been very lucky to be able to have such a nice choice whenever I go buy tomato plants. If I haddn't gotten it into my head that I want to try a few of these really unknown to the public varieties, I would never have to start tomato seed.

Unfortunately, not much to choose from here. Most everyone carries
plants from a common commercial source, and they are not very good.

You are so fortunate to have access to such a variety of quality plants.

Rita, it's surprising that Home Depot here carries a really good selection of tomatoes, and they are grown at a large local nursery. I talked to the delivery man about it because I was so impressed. I still buy almost all of mine at a very small family owned nursery, just because it feels like the right thing to do, but I usually pick up at least one at Home Depot, because the little place sells out quickly of the good stuff - like Cherokee Purple.

Around here one can totally get all their tomato plants from Home Depot and there are years were I have done exactly that. But the local nursery I was mentioning has the greatest selection. So we are very lucky here. Green Grin!

We have a lot of places to get tomato plants so I think next year I will frequent all of them to see what I can get.

Green Grin! Those tomato crazies are catching even to me. I am planning on making one of my tomato areas (the one I call the old tomato garden) longer next year. Longer means I can fit in more tomatoes. Thumbs up Whistling

Rita, you are sooo funny. When you look out and see the water, is it the ocean
or a bay or a lake? I've never been to that part of New York.

Long Island. I live on Long Island. The water is Long Island Sound, which of course is the Atlantic Ocean. I am on the North Shore and looking directly at an inlet of Long Island Sound. New York City not too far to the West. Not that I ever go there.

Wow, I'm looking at the map. Is that deep water at the entrance of the water,
or a beach. When we were in Maine, the water was deep blue, and went
straight down at the edge of property, or at least that is what we were told.

A really nice sandy beach. Long Island has beaches like this one all along the coastline. You can walk and wade or go in deep enough to go swimming. No dropoffs!

Lots and lots of fishing when I was younger. Not any longer. Not that there are not plenty of good fishing spots around. These days the idea of cleaning all those fish is not very appealing to me. I much prefer to buy frozen fish fillets by the bag in the supermarket. Take them out and thaw and cook. But I have a lot of great memories of time spent fishing. Smiling

Me too. Fond memories especially of salt-water fishing. Once caught a
hammerhead shark and also a sting ray. I don't fish any longer either.
