Thread OP

I am a fairly new gardener and bought a purple leaf Japanese honeysuckle last summer. I would like to prune it back, but not sure how. I have read a few articles online and one said that if you prune it back down too far it won't flower the next season. Could this be true? I would love to hear anyone's experience with this and any ideas would be wonderful

I was under the impression, you can prune lightly anytime, but heavy pruning must wait for the dormant season. What is "too far"?
I thought they could handle being pruned to the ground, but I'm not an expert, either. I would be more considered about it being in a pot vs planted in the ground. When you prune it in the fall, you might consider transplanting it into the ground.
