Also visit local Garden Centres, they sometimes sell used nursery pots very cheap. I actually got about 50 free 1 & 2 gallons pot last year when I need to have my Irises potted until the weather cooled down...

I was paying 50 cents per 3 gallon pot from my local nursery until I found a landscaping guy that sells his used pots on Craigslist. Sometimes they will cut a deal when you get 100+ pots

There used to be a local nursery just down the street, and they would put their pots out by the road for pickup...I miss that, they closed.

Lowes still gives away used pots but you may be lucky to find 4 or 5 at a time

So far Lowe's has had none available when I checked. I did pick up about a dozen the other day when out picking up grass clippings by the road...they came complete with dead plants and live weeds.

Several of the Arizona nurseries have a special place where they stack the old pots and they are available free to the patrons. I've gotten all I need from them. Buying pots is super expensive.

Please note that these are privately owned nurseries and not the Lowe's or Home Depot places.

After searching and searching and almost buying new pots (Oh! The horror!) I came upon a local lady who was getting out of the business of selling used tree pots to tree farms. She had literally 1000s of pots in all sizes. She tossed in extras but I got this haul of mostly 5 gal pots for $40. Sizes range from a few 1 gals-50gals and everything in between. The last pot I bought was $17. It won't last as long as these!

When I inquired at Lowes, the guy told me "no" and looked at me like I had 2 heads. Shrug. I told him, "You mean, no, notvat THIS Lowes".

I know the local 99 cent store has nice clay pots for a buck thats about a gollon

I use greenhouse megastore. The local nursery here sold me two gallon pots when i wanted three and i couldnt tell the difference wit h these eyes of mine.
