I bought 5 small bare root frosted vintage ruffles daylilies last spring and they all bloomed and were very pretty. However, the blooms were so low to the ground. I don't think any got above the foliage and some were even resting on the soil. Is it possible this was just because they were so young and they might produce longer stems next season?

Had more of this than usual this year on early bloomers. There is definitely a weather factor. Later bloomers not so much
Life is better at the lake.

I had some of that this year, too. I agree that it must be weather related.

It often takes new plants at least 2-3 years before scapes reach correct height. Don't despair. It will be better next year.

Happened to me also. One I bought is registered as 67" tall but scape was about 15" when it bloomed. I was just happy to see a bloom, has to get better next year when it is more settled

Edited to say tall instead of bloom
