Old panty hose: Cut in thin strips and use for tying vines and tall plants to stakes, they are gentle on the plant tissue and hold up for a long time.

I used to save my wives panty hose all year to tie together my roses in the early winter so heavy snow wouldn't spread and break them apart. We haven't had that kind of snow the last few years so I don't do it anymore.

There's a large Knock Out Rose right next to the gate to our deck, planted by the former homeowner. I cut the plant back because it was encroaching on the walkway to the gate but it grew back pretty quickly so I used strips of panty hose to tie it up to a tree. I find that strips of nylon panty hose last a long time, even in the heat and humidity of Florida!

Monica: LOL, I buy the cheapest packs of knee hi's that I can find! Green Grin!

RobertB: Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Those headbands would work just as well ... I'll have to check out the prices next time I'm at Wal-Mart, they may be cheaper than panty hose. Green Grin!

I don't wear pantyhose any more either, but my Mom does. I have her save worn out ones for me.

I have a neighbor who always has everything. I got a huge bag of them from her and her two daughters. That was several years ago and I'm still using them.
