Sutton's had to refund the Adoree in my order, and I'm trying to decide if it's worth trying to order it from someone else this season, or just wait until next year. (I kinda hate to spend the $$ on shipping one rhizome). I'd love to see/hear anyone's take on Adoree. Thanks!
Give me land, lots of land, under starry skies above. Don't fence me in.
I have it but it is not a good increaser and has only bloomed once. I would wait. It is a beauty when it does bloom though. I agree about the shipping! Too much for one rhizome.

You are so close to me, I bet our growing conditions are very similar. Interesting to hear what's a good increaser and what isn't. If our soil conditions in the flower beds is similar too, that says a lot.

It was also a slow grower, and poor bloomer for me in California. I removed it this year. Didn't think much of the form either, for what it's worth... I'm trying to think which of these sort of reverse bi-colors do well for me. Seems most of them tend to be a little weaker. I do like 'Role Reversal'.. I've got it in an area where I get a lot of rot, yet it keeps on keepin' on... It blooms late, however (Mid May in Santa Cruz), unlike Adoree, which was a month earlier.
Role Reversal is a good grower here as well. However, it tends to be really tall and the stalks go down whenever the wind blows or it rains.
I've tried to grow quite a few of the "Adoree type" irises (orchid/lavender standards and pink/rose falls). Sherbet Bomb has been, by far, the best grower and bloomer here.
Adoranova and Tempo Rouge (sibling children of Adoree) are better growers then Adoree is at least here. Tempo Rouge is the better grower of the two, and blooms more often.
Adoranova
Tempo Rouge
I have not had any issues with Role Reversal stalks falling over, but it is planted near the house where it has some protection from the wind.
Politicians are like diapers, they need to be changed often, and for the same reason.

hmmm...with so many mixed reviews I might pass on Adoree, unless I can get it inexpensively enough to gamble with it. It's not sounding so appealing anymore...
