Thread OP

Hi everyone, I'm new here and am so glad to have found this forum. I just returned from a trip to Oahu and I couldn't resist bringing back plumeria cuttings. I have white with yellow centers (Celadine I think), pink and rainbow varieties (latter varieties unknown). These cuttings were bagged and certified for bringing back to the mainland. I have a few questions... I live in Plano, Texas, Zone 8a. Is it too late to plant these and try to root my cuttings? What soil composition do you recommend? Any other advice for this zone is appreciated.

:thankyou:

You still have some time, and especially Celadine is a quick and easy rooting one, so you should be OK.
I would root in a mixture of 50/50 cactus soil and perlite. NO WATER until you see leaves, and providing bottom heat will help.
If you get frost there, which I think you do, you will have to bring them inside. They cannot tolerate temperatures below 32 degrees.

Hello neighbor😃 I'm in Frisco! If you callous your cuttings you will increase the odds of successful rooting. With it being kinda late in the season you'll want it to root as much and as fast as possible to prepare for dormancy. You could also put it on a heat mat and extend the grow season a little bit. There's a product called Recharge that can help with root development. But as mentioned before you just water once and not again until you get some fully developed leaves so using that product should only be used once you get some leaves.
