I've had several Immortality bearded iris bloom recently.

When this one bloomed, though.......







I am new to gardening, but I don't think this is a bearded iris. Maybe Siberian? Louisiana? Or just a malformed bearded one?

It has beards, three of them. One at each fall. Folage looks like bearded iris, maybe a bit more slender. Oh, and it has a blue tint to the flower where Immortslity is pure white.

But this bed was a disaster this spring. It's at the bottom of a hill and flooded from all of the rain. Could it be effects from that?

Definitely a bearded iris. Not a newer form. No idea which bearded iris though.

It is a happy little reblooming bearded iris is what that is! It may be Immortality, since you have some. Sometimes irises bloom differently each time you see it.

(Not to say a white iris is going to be black the next day)

Thanks. I think you are right. I'm sure it's Immortality. I planted red (Rio Rojo), white (Immortality) and blue (Blueberry Bliss) in that bed. So that's the only white one there.

Immortality and Rio bloomed the next spring; Bliss doesn't get as much sun. This past spring the heavy clay in the flower bed got saturated. The big Bliss flowers toppled over. I wound up cutting the new buds off before they opened. I moved some of the Rios to another bed because of standing water.

Hopefully they will all bloom next spring.

Immortality often opens a very pale blue, then whitens up in my garden. Bearded Iris can get thinner leaves with less sun, or if they're crowded. Some hybrids just have more slender leaves as well, and my pictures of Immortality show the leaves being more or less so. Hope that helps
