Since these have not been widely distributed, I like to post pictures of my Bud Bennett collection. I plan on listing some on the Lily Auction this coming winter. He only worked with diploids and he was a master of the pink diploids, but he also tried his hand with some other colors. I plan on crossing his intros with Ed Zahler's intros as well as with some of the seedlings from Robert Ellison.

BEAUTY IN MOTION: One of the first to bloom and blooms for a long time.
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/2f8874

BLUES IN THE NIGHT: Relatively a new acquisition (2017). It is actually blooming on a rebloom scape right now.
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/f75ccc

BOLD SYMPHONY (will be listed on the auction): Tends to bloom mid late season. Collected a lot of seeds off this one.
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/9cd7f0

BO KNOWS: Also a newer acquisition (2017). Also blooming on a rebloom scape right now. Has proliferations and loaded with buds.

BURTONSVILLE BLUSH: One of the first ones I purchased
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/9a8a0a

CARELESS DREAM: Bud said that he believes that this is his finest intro. It is one of his later intros.
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/10fafd

CHEATING HEART: I love the richness of the color. (will probably list a piece on the Lily Auction)
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/20fa12

COCKY AND BOLD
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/d732ce

DOING ALL RIGHT: I like the edge no eye effect. Slower to increase.
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/cc3ec8

EXTRA BOLD: Wonderful plant. Flat and blooms for a long time. (Will list on the Lily Auction)
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/d2031e

FASHIONAIRE: One of my first ones to purchase from him and still one of my favorites.
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/ac4e7a

FAST PLEASURE: Another outstanding one. It is a early mid bloomer and the color really gets my attention.

FAT AND FOXY: Nice round flower
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/e16679

FINDER'S DELIGHT: A new addition to the garden.

FOOLISH KISSES: A cute small intro. Also one of the first ones I purchased from Mr. Bennett.
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/1f10bf

HAVE A HEART: I had this one in a poor spot until this past year. I am expecting it to really perform next year.
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/c5363d

JAZZ ME BLUES: A sib to BLUES IN THE NIGHT out of KIWI MAGIC and LAVENDER BLUE BABY.
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/929aa2

JUBILEE BALL: One of his taller intros and one of my favorites.
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/3e957f

LUCKY DEBUT: Big bloom (Will be listing on the Lily Auction)
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/4f8cbb

ONCE OVER LIGHTLY
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/e10b37

PASSING FANCY: A newer addition
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/1e0952

POLAR FIZZ: An excellent cream intro
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/d76fbe

RUNAWAY ROMANCE: Another great pink that Mr. Bennett used a lot to hybridize.
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/08395b

SALTY SKIPPER: A popular one among visitors.
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/93955d

SHOWTIME MAGIC: This one is a consistent rebloomer. I love it. It is a melon polychrome. I can't capture all the colors in a photo. Melon, orange, pink , yellow
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/9ae74c

SITTING COOL: This is a top 5 Bennett intro in my opinion. The blooms are perfect everyday and I love the feminine look to this bloom. The is perfection. I will post two images of it. (I will probably list on the LILY AUCTION)
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/a3180b

Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/36917b

TACTICAL CAT: This a great little one. I purchased a couple of other patterned dips this year to cross with this one. (Will list on the Lily Auction)
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/16a66d

TAINTED LOVE: A popular one with visitors. I seem to sell a piece or two every year.
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/4285db

TORRID DANCER: A new acquisition (May be listed on the Lily Auction)
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/c6b573

WILD CHERRY WINE: Another excellent one. This is usually my favorite daylily year in and year out. SITTING COOL usually is its only competition.
Thumb of 2019-10-12/Bedmaker/f42d9c

I did not get pictures of the following: WIDE-EYED WALLY, SWEET TART and SONNY JAY.
Update: I also did not get pictures of the following: Bay Skipper, Big Hearted Lady, Bit of Jam, Ding Dong Ditty, Iron Warrior, Kiwi Magic and Picking Time.
I am always looking for other Bennetts that I don't have. If you have one that is not on my list, please let me know. I would be interested in purchasing or trading for it.

Very nice, David! I especially like Tactical Cat, Jazz Me Blues, Blues in the Night, Bo Knows and Extra Bold, but they are all great Thumbs up

I have a couple of Bennett daylilies, but unfortunately, being in Canada, I cannot share with you. They are Shy Maiden and Foolish Fling. They are both beautifully performing plants.

I grow Wild Cherry Wine and it is a real beauty here early in the season. David's wide selection of Bennets always make me wish I had more room. Here's my Kiwi Magic:

Thanks for all of the comments about my Bennett collection.

Karen: I have them planted in full sun at this time and they seem to hold up. Some of the darker pinks fade to light pink, but they don't melt. The only one that I recall melting is PICKING TIME. SHOWTIME MAGIC really thrives in the full sun.

Mike: BURTONSVILLE BLUSH is named after a town in Montgomery County called Burtonsville. I used to live in MD and would visit Mr. Bennett's garden once or twice a year and spend time talking with him about his hybridizing and what he looked for when introducing.

I enjoyed Salty Skipper this year, as well as, of course, Wild Cherry Wine. Dips do take a while to establish, but these are well worth the wait.

Thanks for sharing your collection with us David. It's always fun to see what cv's folks collect, be it a specific hybridizer, theme bed, daylily characteristic or whatever. I still remember the thrill of finding and purchasing sculpted forms years ago before the form was recognized.
Sitting Cool, Lucky Debut and Jazz Me Blues Thumbs up I'll be watching the LA. Smiling
Good luck with your hybridizing. Using Zahler lines should make some gorgeous crosses. Hope you'll share the results with us in the seedling threads.
