I shred my junk mail, plus, and then compost it. Since retirement in 2001, I have won the Spanish Lottery twice (never bought a ticket), have received 5 or 6 letters from the IRS or a tax preparer useing my address (none used my correct name--I lived in a single family home and was there for over 20 yrs when IRS started mailing me), received an IRS check mailed to my address (again, not in my name), currently receive 3 to 5 phone calls per week that are out of my area code but they use my area code (phone service informs me that they are out of my area code), and receive many phone calls from numbers I do not recognize that do not leave a message.
It took me over 6 months reviewing postings to the NGA online site before joining. As an internal auditor in my working years, I have seen enough fraud to be skeptical of many.
