I feel like I've seen the second one on the forum before... or at least something very similar. Can't place it yet, though.

At first glance I thought of Solomon's Seal for the second one, but on closer inspection I don't think it is.

The first one may be Kevin's Theme. These are photos of mine.

There is a group on facebook called "Iris ID Oz" where some iris experts try to identify irises for people. I highly recommend them.

Just a request: Please don't post or sell your iris by a name until you can obtain and compare your iris side by side with the named iris. There are thousands of iris out there, and many that look similar to each other so live comparison is important.

I agree Please also be careful when labelling them to ensure that it's clear it's only a possible ID until you are able to grow a sample of named cultivar side-by-side to compare it.

I think there should be a "Sticky" with the information on how to properly ID an unknown iris, we keep having to repeat this information every time we have a request for an iris ID. Some times it offends the poster to be given this info. If we had a sticky titled "How to ID an unknown iris" we could just refer them to that link, or people who visit could just read it and get the information without us always having to re-post it. Smiling We could also advise people about not posting iris pictures in the data base without proper identification. Just a suggestion.

Brilliant idea Tom. Wonder if we can get it done.

Yes and thank you so much - I actually contacted the seller and he confirmed it also. Wasn't sure he'd get back to me

Welcome! RedRedCaz. Please never feel you can't ask a question! I remember teachers always saying "there is never a stupid question". It's true, plus wasn't everyone new at growing Iris at one time?

Your second one has horns, 'Some Big Star', does not... but that fact should narrow the choices. Although 'SBS' has a good fade on the edges of the falls, it reads blue in my garden. Your picture looks more like a reverse amoena. Of course, it all depends on how the hybridizer described it.. Big Grin

The only reverse bitone with horns I can find in the database, which looks anything like the second one you're asking about is this:

But there are plenty with no photos, so it could easily be one of those.
Of course I talk to myself; sometimes I need expert advice!
