I have been trying to decide between Black Magic Woman and Sharp Dressed Man. Both are Wister Medal winners. SDM is a bit taller and may bloom a bit later, but otherwise they are very similar. For those of you who grow both of them, which do you prefer?

I need to go find my BMW. Well, the iris, but I really wish I had a BMW (vehicle).

I have both but have only seen SDM bloom. BMW has purple based foliage so it is easy to identify from surrounding irises. Both are pretty but I think my SDM is more magenta-ish than that on top. It has not been a particularly good grower for me. It has not increased much. BMW is in its second year. The fans are quite healthy and strong.

I am often influenced by the name - but both of these resonate with me. Hmmm.

Black Magic Woman blooms earlier then Sharp Dressed Man. If you have both then you have that similar bloom for a long time.
