Hi. I read the Tread "My birthday present" and posted a few of my macrame projects there. Then I decided to make my own tread. Some of these will be repeats from that tread.
After I had children and was a stay at home mom, I started making plant hangers and other things with macrame. I still have cord, macrame books, bead, metal rings, and other accessories. Not sure if my crooked, arthritis fingers is a result of pulling the knots tight, but I don't think I could make anything these days. But you never know, I may just give it a try.
Here are some of my ordinary plant hangers that I made from patterns that I made for my self, and others and some that I sold.
These first 5 were for my DMIL and were taken in her kitchen.
These next ones were either given away or were sold.
This is a hanging picture frame.
Easter cross.
Wind chime.
The only owl I ever made.
Please feel free to add any photos of your macrame creations. I will be adding more soon.
This one is called Josephine. (The knot used is a Josephine Knot.) My dad's name was Joseph (Joe). I made this while I stayed with my parents to help mom take care of dad when he had cancer. He passed away in 1984.
Thanks Vic. I used books (more like a magazine) with different patterns in them. I will take a picture of several of the magazines. I always wanted to make my own pattern and did change some of them in different ways.
Jeanne all your works of art are all professional grade macrame . Even during the macrame craze did I ever see so many Beautiful designs as yours. Lots of that in calif.they were everywhere.
I wish I still had some of mine they have been lost thru many moves.

I bought this little 20 page booklet of various Macrame ideas & instructions from a thrift store a long time ago with the intention of learning how to make Macrame plant hangers. I hated the thought of them being lost forever when the booklet became unreadable so I posted most of it on my blog. If I knew how to put it here I would.

Can you post us a link to your blog? I see your blog info in your tagline and there is a way to make it clickable but I'm not sure I know how to do that.
If you post on Ask A Question - or Site Talk - I'm sure someone could help you.
@Kathy547 That looks just like one of my books. I have a lot of Macrame books from "way back then". I still have rings, beads, cord, and etc. I have arthritis in my hands so bad, I will never macrame again. I was hoping that one of my family would but sadly no one is interested. Too bad I wasn't closer to you. If you do make something, I look forward to seeing pictures of it.
Love love love the plant hangers. I have one my brother did several years ago that I'm trying to dig out of storage. I also have another I got from a peddler's mall that was HUGE. Have to get a ladder to hang that one as I only have one overhang where it would fit.
Always looking for interesting plants for pollinators and food! Bonus points for highly, and pleasantly scented plants.
