We are hiring for full time animal husbandry & farming position. This person should have a passion for animal husbandry, landscaping, growing crops, be excited to work in the Alabama sunshine, be a motivated self-starter who treats this like a career, has a clean record, is reliable, and has a skill set ranging from landscaping to building maintenance, and caring for animals.
More about the role:
This for a role on a a touring farm. Applicants should understand this is a professional environment around an organic farm. Trails, hedges, borders need to be maintained and kept clean. Yards, gardens, orchards, etc must be kept in good shape, buildings, fences, and so on must be kept in good repair. Animals need to be loved, cared for, bred, fed, and treated with respect in accordance to the rules of permaculture.
This is a year round position, and a full time position.
General tasks include:
Feeding animals
Creating breeding plans
Managing stock (cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, chickens)
Weeding
Mowing
Light carpentry
Weed eating
Picking fruit and vegetables
Trimming Trees
Painting and general building maintenance
Planting flowers, plants, trees, and maintaining them
Many of these tasks are expected to be done every day. You must be willing to work hard, quickly, and be able to follow directions while also making good decisions. You must enjoy the outdoors, animals, and providing the best quality products to our customers.
Other expectations:
We are wanting someone who's passionate about the work, wants to become an expert in this type of farming, cares passionately about providing good clean food to the world, cares passionately about the land, animals, and making the world a better place, and who's willing to work hard to become an expert in these things while growing with our farm over time.
