Thread OP

Had a windy day today and my marigolds from seed didn't like the wind, see photo attached.Any ideas on how to prevent this? Insert a stake?

Did you stake them? How are they looking now? Sometimes I just use rocks or big pieces of pine bark mulch and prop them up around the stem at ground level to help them survive until they get stronger.

For little guys like this, buy a hundred pack of bamboo skewers (you know, for shish-kabob? You can buy them at the supermarket or dollar store), gently straighten the plant and shove the skewer right along the main stem on the leaning side so it has something to prop it up. They work great, are biodegradeable, cheap and unobtrusive and the sharp points make them a snap to insert in the ground and narrow enough you don't have to worry about damaging the roots

Thread OP

Sorry for the late reply i had no idea i received replies!
Cheers for the advice I used stakes and they bloomed nicely over our summer.
I dont think I planted them deep enough initially, hence why they were so sensitive to the wind!
