The indians of the Amazon created terra preta with clay pots. The Romans used buckets. If you like worms, you have a good rig chosen. I have the same device. My wife puts kitchen scraps in it and it makes her feel good. I never put the bottom in it so the worms eat it all and I do not have to empty it. I have not touch it in years.
