Hi! My name is Jayce! I am a teenager living in Northern California who has fallen deep down the rabbit hole of horticulture... I mostly enjoy tropical species, but love all plants!! I currently have somewhere around two hundred plants between my house, my grandma's house, my school's greenhouse, and my eight by eight greenhouse I built! I am always up for trading!! I've been creeping around the forum for a while, and finally decided to make my account more lively!! So excited to be apart of the wonderful community here! Rolling my eyes.
If a plant is sad, do other plants photosympathise with it???

I am kind of sad at how few teens are not interested in gardening! I've been meandering the forums for the past few days helping where I can!! There are a few cool forums that aren't as active as I feel they should be for such interesting topics, so I'd like to help get some of them moving again!!

Think part of the problem with the lack of younger enthusiast is that people for the most part are so far removed from agriculture and how their food is grown that they do not see the connection.

And Jayce, many of our gardens are frozen now. Many of the forums are more active in summer than the dead of winter.

I began an interest in gardening in my teens. It began with me mowing the lawn for my Parents and trying to save the potted flowers my Mom bought but usually died quickly. My other family grew vegetables and I did a lot of camping so I always had a fascination with the outdoors and nature. Now I'm growing many of my own vegetables and flowers and a large cactus collection, tree seedlings, some flower cross breeding, it's fun experimenting and seeing the surprises you grow!

That is so cool! I would like to start getting more into seed saving and crossing, and trees! Mainly citrus trees spark my interest... I have some prickly pears outside, and a little barrel cactus, but cacti are just a little too pokey for me... Sticking tongue out
