I wouldn't worry too much about the leaf color. I've seen similar on bottlebrush buckeye. And I've seen many annual variations in fall color on most of the plants I photograph.

Thanks for the reassurance. It's never held its leaves long enough to show good fall color, so I didn't know if that pattern was normal or not.
