Does anyone know what's happened to Luddy Lambertson? I still don't see any 2020 intros at Art Gallery Gardens. The Lambertsons always used to release their intros in late fall for the following year.

Debra, they had an extremely disappointing year last year when they lost all of their new dip introductions to a bad batch of soil, and Rachel told me that Luddy was really devoting more time to his art pieces now anyway. And then they posted on their Facebook page last spring that they were taking a much needed break and wouldn't be open -- and nothing since. After all that I really didn't expect to see any new intros this year, but I'm hopeful that they will bounce back and decide to introduce daylilies again -- I was really getting into their beautiful dips in a big way, and I had ordered all their new dip intros last year -- so I converted that purchase into getting a few of their tet newbies and recents instead, and now I'm really glad I did -- just in case... But here's hoping... Crossing Fingers!

Betty - Thanks for the info. I had wondered if their garden was as badly affected by the hurricane as the Trimmer's. I sure miss Art Gallery and Watermill, and I hope they will both be back next year.

Me too, although I think the Trimmers have retired now... But I sure miss seeing the new intros of both gardens every year... Sad

It's amazing to see how many hybridizers that I used to buy from are no longer in the business. I wasn't sure if the Trimmers were just going to take a year or two off, or get out of the commerical business entirely.

I am so glad that I got to meet them in person a few years back. We moved my daughter to Florida and made a trip to the Atlantic side to hit several daylily gardens near Floyd Cove. Luddy and Trimmer were very nice.
Bee Kind, make the world a better place.

Debra, I talked with Dan Trimmer about this. He says he will sell to whomever comes to see his garden. However, he doesn't intend to fill orders for plants that need to be cleaned, trimmed and packed. His gardens are significantly smaller than before.
