I am trying to locate Cranfils Gap for purchase, and the only seller I've found is Napa Iris, which has closed. Anyone know of a seller? Thanks!

Ha ha, thanks Evelyn. I did search a few vendors and have come up empty so far. The website for the Iris Society of Dallas suggests writing Tom Burseen directly and implies he has a catalog: http://www.irises-dallas.org/i... I'm not sure if their website is up-to-date, but I think I remember Leslie stating something similar... I could be wrong.

Cindy, if you continue to have trouble locating 'Cranfil's Gap', I can add it to our "Wanted..." thread:

Thank you for all your hard work! I'll write Tom Burseen at the provided address in the link and cross my fingers. If I can't reach him or he doesn't have it available I'd love for you to add it to the Wanted thread (which I didn't know about, thanks!).

According to the sidebar alongside the database entry for Cranfil's Gap, 11 of our members have it, And if you click on that, you get a list of the members who do, as well as the information that Superstition Gardens was the source for at least some of them.

Unfortunately, Superstition Gardens does not have a web page, but rather only a Facebook page, which is kind of weird, considering how many people have closed their Facebook memberships (myself included) because of Facebook data leaks and gathering and sale of personal data. However, even if you don't have a Facebook membership, You can still find their phone number on their public -facing facebook page. Give them a call and ask whether they still have Cranfil's Gap.

If they don't have it, maybe you can work out a trade with one of our 11 members who has it.

Thanks for the head's up on Superstition Gardens! As for the members who have the plant, the guidelines specifically state not to contact members unless they have a plant listed as available for trade or sale, but none of them do. Thanks!

Oh, well, maybe one of them will see this, and pipe up! Unfortunately many members who might actually be willing to trade, forget to mark that feature in their plant lists, or don't even realize that that feature exists. Lots of members don't even realize that they can keep their own database of plants in their profile here, marking what they have, what they want, and whether they have enough of a cultivar to sell, trade, or give.

I hope more members will discover and use this feature.

Not everyone uses this feature. Maybe some are not that much into trading?

Cindy - I lost my Cranfil's Gap, so would be interested in finding someone who still carries it. I do know that Tom Burseen does not have it. He only has his more recent iris, and lost a lot of them to flooding last year. As to Superstition, since the death of Roger Duncan there has been no notice from Rick Tasco about when they will start selling this year or what will be available. Sorry to be a downer, but until some of the smaller vendors open a bit later a source is hard to come by.

I think I still have Cranfil's Gap--nearly bloomed out in that pic above in 2018, no bloom in '19, or this year, so I'm not sure. But, I did just rescue what I think is it today from yet another problem going on in that area and hopefully it will make a comeback, demonstrate if it is in fact the iris that I hope it is, and if so, then at some point in the future I can share...

Thank you - it does seem to be iffy for a lot of folks. I've been contacted by several people who have had it and lost it.

Well, we'll see...it grew very well for me at first, then almost bloomed out, then the rose grew, and grew, and ate it.
I've moved it out to the sunshine, that should help a lot Smiling
