Hello - This flower grows on large flowering trees in my mom's neighborhood near Honolulu, Hawaii. It doesn't bloom all year long, just around this time of year.

I wasn't able to post another photo of the whole tree due to a glitch. Can anyone i.d. this flower?

I don't know if Silver Trumpet Tree (Tabebuia aurea) grows in California but Golden Trumpet Tree (Handroanthus chrysotrichus) does.

I've never seen the Golden Trumpet in my area, but yes, the Tabebuia aurea does. I agree with Golden Trumpet.

After reviewing your examples, I googled "golden trees in Hawaii" and found this article:

It says the trees are Tabebuia donnell-smithii.

Here's our database entry; accepted name is now Primavera (Roseodendron donnell-smithii) Tabebuia donnell-smithii is a synonym.
