What new (and old) irises do you like from this new catalog, and which ones will you order?

Brad has taken some lovely pictures of the new ones.

On the cover is Night Whispers.

The 40th Anniversary catalog is BEAUTIFUL ! Hurray!

I couldn't resist a 2019 intro - Magic Trick. Brad's photo seduced me.
A few older ones too.

Buy the ones you can't live without, but remember there will probably be a surplus sale again this year especially because their inventory of varieties is so large. I wonder if anyone has added up what one of each would cost in total?

I can't remember, was a printed catalog sent out already for Mid America? is it only on-line right now?

I got my Mid-America catalog a couple of days ago. If you ordered from them last year, you should get one.

Ehem - there is a database picture for Law and Order.... Whistling
Hilarious!

Want to say, don't put all your hopes into the surplus sale. Last year they had a bumper crop, so there were lots of iris in the sale. The year before there were only a very small amount available, and then only if you bought 3 of each. So if you really want a certain iris, and can afford it, then go ahead and purchase it.

That's how I'm approaching my order with them this year. As much as I like the idea of waiting and hoping for another epic sale this year, I ordered the ones I just can't live without and will pick up extras later on.

Leslie - thanks! (I'm a bit distracted these days - as many are)
Nice photo!

I like the fine rim on the standards!

another reason for buying now...I want to see these guys succeed.

So many of the older generation hybridizers are closing down or cutting back, for many reasons - and I applaud those who can continue with youthful fervor. Breeding and growing irises as a business is hard work.

(of course, Thomas and Kirk are already successful! My little order isn't going to do much. I honestly just love what they're creating!)

Last year I was so good about not ordering, then came that darn sale, and I lost all of my resolve. This year, I'll try to get a few from them and hope that the sale includes a few of the older ones that I want to get or replace. I think last year was an anomaly regarding so many intros on sale, so I wouldn't count on that. Our club always gets a bunch of their's for door prizes as well, so I got a few more that way too. I have one of my older beds that needs to be re-worked, so I'm planning on purging a few to make room. Now I just have to get my income tax refund and I'm good to go. Rolling my eyes.

Hurray! I got my catalog today, the last five or six pages were beat up and torn. A little tape can put it back together.

Rebekah ~ Yes, the variety of names is staggering! And so many with very strange names...Giraffe Kneehiz, Aardvark Antickz, Acute Coot, As the Tern Turnz, Baboon Bottom, Bewilderbeast, Bradley Badger, Cheetah Cheese...these are all Kasperek. Just look in the database under Kasperek.

I have wondered what names I would use if any of my seedlings looked promising. Maybe some will bloom this year.

Lol! I'll look him up. How big are your seedlings? Also are you planting them out in beds or potting them up?
I'm guessing in my case it's going to be least two more years before I see any blooms from mine.

I believe I did. I had some Year old seedlings that were left behind when I moved. The current batch of iris seedlings were germinated around December. I have to say, they are growing pretty fast compared to the first group. I potted 5-6 in gallon pots and they are needing to be separated out into a bed as soon as I can get some garden soil.
