Hello everybody! I'm new in this forum. I always loved plumerias so I decided to go ahead and buy a cutting online and try to grow it myself.
So I received a sturdy cutting, it was already in dirt, it didn't have any roots or leaves, the top was green and the bottom had a callus and the coloration of the rest of the cutting was kinda dark green brownish looking.
I dipped the bottom in water and put rooting hormone on it, and planted it indoors with a constant temperature of 70F in a regular soil mix. I put it inside of a plastic translucent container because I read it likes moisture and left it there with indirect sunlight.

After two days of doing that I noticed that the plant had shrunken on the top and it was soft to the touch, I started to freak out thinking it was getting to much moisture and the stem was rotting so I pulled the cutting out of the pot and I saw that it already had tiny white healthy looking roots coming out of the bottom (I thought it was pretty incredible that it rooted so fast) and 2/3 of the stick was still sturdy to the touch.

Anyhow I was so freaked out thinking that it was going to die so I cleaned the bottom with water, dipped it again in rooting powder, planted it in a moist soil mix (1/2 of vermiculite and 1/2 of regular soil mix) and put it at a prudential distance of the heater (please don't kill me Crying Crying ).
After doing all of that I started googling what was going on and I came up with this forum.
I read a post where it said to pinch the soft part and see if it was black, I did that with a toothpick, nothing came out and I could see through the hole and it was white inside, to me it looked like it was drying out. Why is it soft then? Confused Confused Confused

I really don't know what to do, should I cut that part off? For now I left it alone because I didn't want to disturb it anymore, but I really don't want this cutting to die.
I would be more than glad to receive any recommendations from you guys!

Thank you so so much in advance and I hope my plumeria doesnt die Crossing Fingers! Crossing Fingers!
Thank You! Thank You!

I will attach pictures in here so you can see.
