I have a question for all daylily lovers. I bought a daylily at the first of the month at a state Flower and Garden Show, the name is Divas choice. It's one of those with the ruffled edges in a different color, I didn't have one like that, and it was a good price. I planted it and kind of forgot about it. I looked at it yesterday and it has a bloom stalk coming on? Is this unusual? I've never had this happen before.

I thought it was odd that 'Diva' would have been grown in a green house, but I see it is actually
'Diva's Choice' a much later cultivar: Heemskerk 2012, Tet., Dor.
So that makes it much more likely to have been grown in a green house. I just received some plants form Floyd Cove a week ago and two of them have scapes already.
I was just not thinking it would be warm enough in Arkansas for them, but I don't know, hope a freeze doesn't zap them. I think it is often advised to remove early scapes like that, but I know it is hard to do.

Thank you so much for the information! Yes, it has been very warm here. And yes, we will probably have one last cold snap, we usually do. I will probably remove the scape, but I am going to hold off that decision for now. Again, Thank You! Have a good day!

I never cut off a scape. I take my chances. I know a lot of people do. Some let them bloom one flower or more to verify that they got the correct plant and then cut the scape.

I never cut a scape, either. I am too greedy to see the blooms. Also, I sometimes want to use the pollen nodding

I have decided not to cut the scape. I'm dying to see what it looks like. Hope this is the first scape of many!

I dont cut them either, altho Ive found from the dogs knocking them off at times, that in fact they do grow more. After they bloom Im always mad I didnt cut them as they usually look pretty sad.
