Welcome! BeagleLab. I have had a Beagle Lab mix. It was a White Lab with big brown eyes. He was precious! That looks like Quaker Lady if you compare it to pictures in the database. But a) I have never had Quaker Lady and I know some others out here do have it so they would probably be a better judge and b) As they always say out here...Even if it looks the same, to be sure, you would have to obtain a known Quaker Lady Iris and grow it to make sure it is the same Iris.

Regardless of what it ends up being, it is very beautiful, especially the color!!!
If you think there is no more beauty left in the world...Plant a garden!!!

Is it blooming now? or is your picture from last Spring?

Compare 'Miss California'

Thank you everyone for the responses! It is a picture from last spring. They are just starting to emerge this season - we are zone 4b here. It's actually snowing right now! Looking at the pictures of Quaker Lady and Miss California, I'm leaning towards believing it's Miss California. Quaker Lady looks very similar, but the blooms I have are more pink and seems to match up better with Miss California. I have a 1950 home, so the age of Miss California would also fit that timeframe. Great idea to find the suspected plant and grow it next to it to confirm.

Beagle lab mixes are my favorite Smiling

I'm betting just from the looks of it that it's from the 1930s through the 1950s.

Does anyone know the name of this plant? It bloomed in a bed of old white bearded iris.

Welcome! WinnieDaughter

Are there other blooms on that stem or in that clump that look like a normal bearded iris? Sometimes strange blooms occur where the flower may have extra or fewer parts or the colours may be a bit different.

I doubt that's actually a known cultivar... I'd be interested to know if all the blooms are like that or if it repeats that behaviour next season (my guess is that it might not).

All the blooms have been like this one. If it was in the bed last year, I missed it. Thanks for your help.
