Recently, my fern has been losing its fronds and I noticed yesterday that part of it is dead. The dead part is the brown ball that produces the frond. Please help me with advice about what to do to help it. I treasure it. It was my deceased son's and he got it in about 1976. I understand that these ferns are somewhat rare.

Welcome!

I have no idea what a petticoat/turkey tail fern is. Could you post a photo?

I will try but mine looks like a regular fern now, now, no spreading out at the ends of the fronds with smaller ones. There is one on your website. I googled petticoat fern and when I clicked on your site, it was there. Beautiful, with so many fronds at the ends.

2 year old thread and that was the only post ever made by BobbieH.

Did you see the photo of the petticoat fern above? It's gorgeous with so many fronds spreading from the ends. My fern is doing much better, dividing at the ends again, but the reason is probably because we now live in Florida. It loves it here.

Welcome! back, BobbieH. I'm glad your fern is doing better but moving to a different state is not a care suggestion I would have thought of. Hilarious!

Update your location and show us your fern.

I wasn't told the name of mine when I got it in 1997. I named it Peacock Boston fern....it seemed fitting. I love my Peacock/Petticoat/Turkey Tail fern...lolol
