thought I would ask here are farmers markets open?
are they considered essential ?
thought those on warmer locations may know? our market does not open till mid April but no one seems to know IF they will open?

I doubt they would open, even if they did I know I wouldn't go, simply because people aren't listening and going out, yesterday I was shocked to see the amount of cars in my grocery stores parking lot.
I don't know how it is in your area, but people in NY haven't listened to the stay home orders, its real bad down in NYC, I'm glad I'm in rural upstate.

Frillylily, To answer your question, in the Village I live in most of the time you can easily count the cars in the parking lot, so it is unusual to see that amount of cars everyday.

Well I just saw on the news the Bloomington In. farmers market is open for online orders and will give a pic-up time

They have a nice market , much bigger than the ones around here , so I guess I will wait to hear about the close / smaller markets Shrug!

I don't know about upstate NY but we've had many city folks come to our rural area. They have campers, hunting leases, camp houses here. They bring family and friends but not food. They put an added burden on the inventory at our small local stores. I try hard to stay away.

Update:
Our market is not setting up , but taking orders
We made an order from our farmers market last week and they deliver Hurray!
Not the same as being able to look at things but it is nice farmers have a way to sell their produce
not much in the way of veggies yet but I did see tomato plants on for this week
