Good afternoon from the Pacific Northwest! Beginner landscaper/gardener here. My wife and I bought our first house last year, and there were quite a few things we needed to tackle to improve the life and aesthetics of our yard and property. Along with our patchy yard, we decided to take care of this sloped area in our front yard.
It had mulch that was dried up and old, lots of pine cones and dead leaves, and plenty of weeds. We raked up all the mulch and debris, pulled all the weeds, and now we have a nice empty canvas of dirt. It actually looks nice right now lol, considering what it was before.
Our next step is obviously "what do we do from here?". We have no clue. We've thought about leaving it with just dirt. We've thought about covering back up with mulch that matches the small strip along our driveway, on the other side of the fence (so much mulch!).
I come to anyone here for some help! Are there plants that you've seen work well on steep slopes? What can we do to fill up this large, empty space and bring some color and life to our front yard? FYI, the area gets morning and early-afternoon sun. Thanks everyone, and have a pleasant and safe day!
