Let's start a new thread for our 2020 fragrant plants and flowers! Here's some new pics of what's blooming for me now; a NOID floribunda, a NOID iris, and lavender stoechas.

Lucky you. Pretty posies! I don't have anything showy.

The only good smelling one I have in bloom is a fragrant begonia. First time it has bloomed for me and I am quite fond of the fragrance. Lovey dubby

Thank you! Here's more, this one is fragrant, too. Plus these roses are divine. And dianthus.

Pretty, pretty. I do have a pot of Dianthus but I don't get down there to sniff. Green Grin!

Spring is one of the smelliest seasons here. Right now, the last daffodils just finished up, and the phlox has just a bit left.

The jonquils (the second two) are done by now, but those three are my noticeably fragrant varieties. It's so worthwhile picking the fragrant types. Daffodils are like weeds here.

The phlox is the best for a cut flower. You just get handfuls and handfuls, and it needs cut back before summer anyway so I never feel guilty about it.

Oh, and I just noticed the lilac starting. But you all know what lilacs are.

I miss Lilacs from my childhood. In Minnesota, ours bloomed around the end of May. Mom would take fruit jars full of cut Lilacs to place on the graves on Memorial Day.

Don't you just love the smells of spring!

Lilacs sometimes don't grow well here, especially the newer ones, but the older, what I call the original one does. I never thought I liked lilac scent until I smelled the real thing! My icebergs (Roses)are blooming like crazy now, the smell is honey warmed by sweet tea. I've planted a lot of new daylilies and many of them are fragrant. They're sending up scapes now, should be blooming the first of June. I can't wait to smell them! I'll try to get a good pic of the icebergs soon.

One that surprised me is silverberry (Russian olive; wild olive), which I had planted as an ornamental barrier. I knew the small fruits were edible, sweet but really small. I had not known about the small, white flowers until one day I began smelling something almost like a perfume throughout the yard and tracked it back to the silverberries. It's only once a year, but it's one of the most pleasing subtle aromas a garden could have.

They're all NOIDs, I don't know the mames! Sighing! I wish I did. Now here's two new fragrant flowers from this year; a new day lily and a nicotiana. This nicotiana is really tall!

This day lily was planted in the fall, I have more planted this spring that are supposed to be fragrant. One will be blooming soon, I'll be sure to post a pic. Thumbs up
