I think Stefan is right in doubting that it is P. pachycladus, but I would not immediately agree with his conclusion that it must be Stetsonia coryne, not saying it could not be that, but it does not quite fit what I know S. coryne to look like from having grown it for years in my yard.
It is what it is!

I have grown mine from exactly that size. You might be right, but looking at the photo, I am not certain of it, so while I applaud the certainty with which you present your opinions, if the idea is to keep the database as clean as possible, I would advice this plant be moved to the general cactus entry (if such a thing exists), rather than add it to S. coryne.

Unfortunately there isn't a general cactus entry, so I'm afraid I'll need you to nail down a likely genus if you can.

I wouldnt even be discussing this if it werent for the 2 large black central spines on the rightmost plant. Its stetsonia. Dead sure.

Thanks Stefan. That's sufficient for me to move it to the Stetsonia genus entry.

There are no other members in the stetsonia genus.
Same as saguaro(carnegiea gigantea) and oleander(nerium oleander)

Thanks Stefan. That comment has prompted me to revise the genus; we actually had a variety of Stetsonia coryne listed as well, but it's no longer an accepted name.
