Betty, the red throat on FLAMING FLAMINGO looks like it's lacquered on and makes quite the contrast with that rich orange color. FIRE OF HELL is an oldie but goodie.

Here's a pic of how FLAMING FLAMINGO looked in my garden this summer. Tomorrow it's going to get dug up to get ready to go to it's new home. It has increased well so it's going to need to be divided.............

Life is short, enjoy the ride!

Love all the oranges. I have a few more that I don't think have been listed.

Orange Grove

Orange Thrill - not well known-parent of Parrot Moon. This one is such a neon orange that my camera can't capture how bright it really is.
Thumb of 2012-09-12/farmerbell/514f0d

Spacecoast Hot Tamales is another that I don't see any where. It is a vivid burnt orange.

Tequila Mockingbird is one of my favorite Trimmer oranges.

Another Trimmer favorite here is Ethel Buccola. It is not as bright in color but the rebloom on this one is spectacular.

The eye on Orange Blossom Trail shows more on some blooms that others. Of course I posted my best pictures. Also as it gets hotter the orange gets lighter in color.

I can see the eye when you do a close up of it. I am sure the sun does fade it as with many flowers.

This year was orange year for me, I realized I didn't have hardly any - actually, I only had one - Primal Scream. It was my first "expensive" daylily. What is interesting is that up until that point, I only bought red ones, yet I spent what I considered (at that time) a LOT of money on Primal Scream. This flower deserves all the accolades it gets, although I was hoping for more increase this year, the drought probably affected it.

Thumb of 2012-09-13/philljm/b75ad2

So I have been acquiring some oranges over the past 12 months

Fire King - awesome flower, long bloomer.

Thumb of 2012-09-13/philljm/d47f16 Thumb of 2012-09-13/philljm/a20160

Sparkling Orange, although it looks more of a light orange to me, not as yellow as it looks in this photo

Thumb of 2012-09-13/philljm/84b52a

And one of my favorite purchases from this year, Indian Ripple. I can't say enough good things about it. Here it is on it's original bloom on 7/5 - and it has been reblooming for about 3 weeks now, with still more buds to open. This flower truly 'glows'

And this is a diploid (historic? bee cross?) orange NOID growing 'wild' from our family cottage in western PA. Sorry the photo is a bit blurry. I am hoping I brought a piece of this one back with me.

Thumb of 2012-09-13/philljm/a76892

And of course, I have tried to acquire some more oranges this year. Big Grin ~Jan

Ann, Manhattan Ks Ann, What is your avatar? I love that picture. The anthers on the photo look like they are reaching out for a hug. It's a beautiful photo, especially when enlarged.

All of the Oranges in this thread are wonderful!!! I bought Tequila Mockingbird from Maryotts. I love your photo Ann B. I'm glad to see it's actually as pretty as the hybridizers photo. I've seen several others that I really really want to add to my collection.

Thanks for sharing everyone, Mona

Thanks so much Ann! That's quite a compliment with all the gorgeous daylilies you've got! I still haven't even registered anything. Thought I might this year, but it was such a horrible summer that I didn't want to judge any by their performance under such awful conditions.... A friend who lives out in the country and sells daylilies offered to let me line out a few seedlings this past weekend at her place, so I'll finally get to see how they perform with full sun and a little more space :~). Daylilies in my yard have to fight it out with vinca, mint and tree roots (as well as shade).

Now, back to the topic of oranges....

Here are a few from my garden.

Orange is one of my favorite colors. There aren't too many oranges shown here that couldn't find a place in my garden. I am particularly taken with your first orange seedling Lyle.....Dan Trimmer has shown some very nice orange daylilies lately. I have Parrots of the Caribbean on my short list (waiting for the price to come down), although its base color looks more pale to medium yellow to me...This daylily, Bittersweet Destiny is my favorite color of orange. It blends with just about everything. It is also colorfast. I lost mine this year when I brought in some southern daylilies and Bittersweet Destiny (which had been clean all these years) became badly infected. I'm always on the lookout for a colorfast daylily in this color range....Maryl...........Thumb of 2012-09-13/Maryl/134797

couple, but these photos are making it most difficult to decide
which ones.
