I would think if you ask around at some local daylily clubs they would probably give you all you wanted. If not I do see Walmart sells them. I think of it as being mostly a hand-me-down plant, that people seldom actually buy.

Odd statements in that Walmart description, such as "..that is the only known triploid daylily." (No it's not the only one) and: "Often referred to as a diploid, Kwanso actually produces triple the usual number of petals and as such, is a triploid daylily with its stamen modified into additional petals.". I think someone doesn't know what diploid and triploid mean. They got "aggressive" right though, it's pretty but it will take over the garden if you let it.

Brings back awful memories of Walmart bagged DLs: if they weren't rotted in the peat moss, they weren't the correct type half the time. When is a bargain NOT a bargain?

Learning the hard way is good learning indeed. Isn't that what we do? Like adventures with rust. Angry Terrible but SOOOOO useful! Good learning. And this forum lets us learn from others' mistakes which is the coolest trick. Thank you for all the info over the years, friends! Thank You!

Best wishes in finding the daylily or daylilies that make you happy, senga!

Kwanso is & can be a good plant to have in your garden, your collection. However keep SOOBY's comments above in mind about 'aggressive" and "take over a garden". My suggestion & experience is to sink a large pot or receptacle (Horse watering bucket?) into the ground to it's rim (Ensure there is a suitable drainage hole) .... Something at least 12" deep - even better @ 15"-18" deep & 18-30 inches wide at the top. Then fill it with suitable soil/compost/manure mix & plant your Kwanso inside this in-ground pot. For the most part, this method will enable you to control this plant's tendency to spread throughout the garden.

I have it planted in a field behind my house, far away from my gardens. It can outcompete the weeds, and strangely, the deer don't eat it.
