Love ginger blooms. I will be home in Florida in 3weeks and I'm sure there are lots of flowers I'm missing. My husband sends the odd picture, but he's not a gardener so notices very few of my flowers.šŸ˜„

3 weeks but who is counting, right? Hilarious! Your spouse probably misses you and is more interested in seeing you than the blooming flowers

Sherri, that's the one I want ! I was hoping mine would be theseā˜¹ļø...
I had gotten them in two separate trades - hoping one would be the red and yellow.
But alas, no such luck.

Well I checked the EBay guy I bought from, he was here in FL, price was under cheap, they were from his garden, but he isn't selling any now and I bought in May last year. Maybe I'll get enough to share eventually, I have a second stalk just starting to come up. That's a large patch of them at Leu gardens and they were in other places too, so hopefully multiply quickly.

I am not particularly fond of the brownish green tint on the flowers but it has turned into a nicely shaped plant.

Red Torch is stunning and I love the soft color of the Pina Colada. I noticed my woodsonii has lots of red buttons peeking out. The spot where I planted it is probably too shady. When they say you should wait a year in a new garden to watch the sun they are not kidding. It is too hot to transplant anything right now though.

The torch gingers have always been favorites of mine. My Pink Torch is now as big as my Red Torch so I expect blooms on her this summer. I also recently got a single rhizome start of the one called Malay Rose and it has established but I probably will not get anything out of it until next season. I used to have a White torch but it is finicky compared to the others. I have tried with 2 starts over the past 2 seasons and both failed to establish

Unless you are in about Zone 10B and above (maybe 10A with a good protected area) sorry no joy LOL has to have winter protection. They are considered members of the group called 'Ultra Tropicals'. They also get tall, 12+ feet.

My Hedychium rubra bloomed today
