This branch broke about six months ago. Is there any way that it might heal itself??? The tree leaves are starting to get a rest light color is that a fungus that could possibly be caused by a broken branch causing it to be unhealthy?

Looks like you have it braced you as well as you can. If it's been 6 months since it broke, I'd say it's probably healed as much as it will. The branch may be weaker, but if it's surviving, then it is what it is. Why not just remove it and root it?
Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.
