Hi everyone!

Am new here, and somewhat new to trying to grow irises.

I have some bearded irises that suddenly (within less than a week) showed this leaf damage. It doesn't quite seem like the iris diseases and problems I've seen on the web - looks a little like some tiny critter was munching. I searched in the daytime and at night with a flashlight for possible culprits but found no obvious guilty parties.

I live in southern California, in the mountains.

Ideas?

Since you're in the mountains, I'm guessing you're near open fields (undeveloped land). So to me, it looks like leafhopper damages. When the hills behind me dry up (Iike now), the leafhoppers make their way into my garden (followed by the wild turkeys).

Thanks - leafhoppers sound very plausible! I guess I should be glad its not an infectious disease - sigh.
