Thread OP
Alaska (Zone 4b)
I'm requesting suggestions for a hardy perennial plant, or plants, that would be nice in a shady part of a tiered garden bed near our front steps. Last year I transplanted some ferns there and they thrived, but they also got a little messy and too tall. It gets cold up here in Anchorage so the plants also have to be cold-tolerant.

I would like to suggest Alaska natives: Bunchberry (Cornus canadensis) and wild ginger (Asarum canadense).
