It's been raining almost every afternoon/evening so I guess I will water when that stops. I have a meter maybe I will put into pot. How deep should I place it?

When the top 2 or 3 inches is dry you can water. How deep is the pot?
I would also put more gravel/grit top dressing. About an 1" deep.

The pot is about 15 inches deep. I thought I had about an inch of grit on top but when planing it got displaced. I will check on the depth of wetness.
