Aunt Bett always said, "Look for the magic that hides in plants, look real close and you'll find it." Most of the time we don't have to look very far; most of the time we can find magic in our own herb gardens.
Thanks, Vicki.
Sorry you missed out on it this year. I thought I had lost mine too, but surprisingly it popped right back up when we finally got a little rain.
Wow, Sharon. Never knew that much about basil, which I love. Thanks for another wonderful article. I always look forward to our Italian daughter-in-law's large platter of sliced home-grown tomatoes, mozzarella and basil drizzled with olive oil when we visit them in the summer.
Marilyn, I'm sure going to try the strawberries with basil and honey when we get back tp FL, where I have basil growing. My basil died in the heat this summer.
Any day you wake up on the sunny side of the grass is a good day.

Name: Marilyn Greenwood Village, CO (Zone 5b) Garden today. Clean next week.
My basil is still growing but because the weather is turning, with lows in the 30s this week, I am afraid I need to harvest it. I will try to freeze or use the preserving in oil method for some.
I usually just dry it. I don't grow much but love to use the fresh herbs in my omelets.
Sharon, maybe we could just share the whole platter!!!! I could make a meal off of it very easily.

Sweet basil! I love it.
Mine's getting a little ratty. The picture of mine in the article was taken a couple weeks ago, not quite as spiffy looking now.
We'll have to order some tomatoes from Rita. Maybe she could send us some

Great article. I always grow basil in the summer. I can't resist the smell of thai basil, but somehow never get around to cooking with it . I guess I imagine that I like to cook but in reality don't!
