Thread OP
SW Georgia (Zone 9b)
I ordered 50 socortranum seeds off Amazon. I don't necessarily have high hopes but I didn't have to pay a bundle for them either so I'm not too worried about it.

Does anyone have any help full tips for setting them up for the best chance of success? I have a nice sun room to keep them inside. It faces east to south east so its not in direct light ALL day but it still gets pretty warm right now its probably around 90 during the day by august it will easily hit 100 F.

My plan was to use store bought cactus mix with extra vermiculite (No clue how much more though).

Thanks in advance,

Ben

Never tried growing socortranum ...have heard they are extremely slow growers and very temperamental ... but here is my 2 cents worth

to *start the seeds* .... I see nothing wrong with using the store bought cactus mix with extra vermiculite

but once over an inch tall or so ... I would use a rocky mix, with large grain sand ....and very little organics

These socortranum plants initially came from Socotra an Island out in the Gulf of Aden and Arabian Sea - between Somalia and Yemen ... possibly one of the hottest, driest places on the planet ....
