I always manage to have a few drummond phlox , they are easy to start from seed and don't mind the spring cold

the first of the tall snaps has bloomed , not my favorite color , but I could not find the dark red so I ended up with a mix

I know it's technically a biannual but...

Thumb of 2020-06-18/ElPolloDiablo/13f05f

I spent years tracking down this particular hollyhock color and found it for sale a bareroot last year.
Since there are no other hollyhocks nearby and the zinnias, Russian sage etc should distract pollinators I hope seeds from it will stay true to type because it's been quite an adventure to get hold of it and to have it bloom.

I love nigella as a spice (it's the "secret ingredient" of Panch Puran) but I don't like it much as an ornamental.
However I have discovered there's some growing in my garden... and in a completely different position from where I had sown it. No clue how it got there unless a bird hate some seeds and then relieved itself. Thinking

I did not know it was used as a spice , what part do you use ? the seeds?

My plants seem to self sow and pop up where ever they choose , sometimes across the garden , lucky they are easy to recognize as seedlings so I don't pull them.

Any not familiar to y'all, just ask me. I've always grown annuals, many of them for the butterflies and bees. My zinnias are just beginning to bloom, I planted them late. I'll try to get pics of them today. Thumbs up

Jo Ann, I see you love coleus and calis as much as I do! Cinda, I knew when I planted it that it was tall, but knowing a plant is 5' tall and actually seeing it that tall is a very different thing! I do love it and will grow more next year. Thumbs up The nigella is so cute! Love in a mist, right? I've never had any luck germinating them. Sighing!

That one came up in a pot with old dirt; so must have been something that did not germinate some years ago Shrug!

That little guy on that second zinnia was a part-grown katydid. Many katydids are carnivores, so I didn't bother him. Thumbs up
