Fall Tip: Plant Wildflower Seeds

By LindaTX8
October 7, 2012

Some wildflower plants may start to come up in fall; others will come up in late winter or in spring. Get out those wildflower seeds and plant them this month if possible! If you don't have any, find some for sale or trade. With fall planting, there will be a good chance for earlier blooms.

Placing wildflower seeds and hardy annual seeds over bulb plantings will hide the later
foliage of the bulbs after they have flowered.
So far I have used mainly larkspur, Siberian wallflower, alyssum saxatile,Iceland poppies,
for-get-me-nots, hollyhocks and rudebeckia lacinata.

This year I obtained a mix from American meadows called "Tulip Toppers".
I am sowing this over my bulb plantings.
It is mostly annuals.
