I would like to grow a roma tomato plant in a fabric bag. Have any of you gardeners here tried this?

It seems of all the tomatoes I could have picked I have picked the one that requires the most space! One article I saw says that a container for this tomato, should measure at least 18 inches across and be at least 16 inches tall.

Looking at available grow bags, even some of the 20 gallon bags don't achieve these dimensions!

I am wondering if it is really necessary to get such a large bag and if anyone has had success using smaller sized fabric pots?

Thanks for your help.

This is my second year using some of the grow bags. I am putting pepper plants in the 5 gallon size and my full size tomatoes in 10 gallon. I think the results speak for themselves! Get your Roma's growing Hilarious!

Thanks for sharing the pictures. Your plants look great - they are really thriving.

I will pick up a 10 gallon for my roma.

I am also growing some peppers, by the way, and already got my 5 gallon grow bags for those. Glad to see I am on the right track there.

I've heard so many good things about grow bags, and how people get much better results with them - I am looking forward to finally using them.

I have been more impressed with the grow bags than I thought I would. Now waiting to see how many seasons I get out of them
