Backyard in Spring

When spring arrives each year, we are gifted with this wonderful view from our patio. It takes some work to keep it looking nice, but when we see the fruits of our labor, we don't mind the work at all.

Thanks Casey. Actually, I think it's my 2nd or 3rd.

Thanks Valerie.

I'm excited and proud to announce that we were awarded the Certified Wildlife Habitat® distiction. It's something that Larry and I worked hard at achieving. Sadly, he passed away in May of 2019 before the certification was official. I'm sure he's smiling somewhere looking down at what we achieved.

Beautiful banner and yard. Would you post the full sized pic that you used to make the banner?

@Marilyn, I'll have to find the original photo as the banner was submitted 3 years ago. (Personally, I would like to see a limit placed on the number of banners a person could submit over the course of the year. It would give others a change to have their achievements recognized.)

Rick, I like that idea. We need more members participating in banner making. Right now it seems to be a very small group.

3 years?? I submitted some banners 2 months ago which aren't even determined what day they're going to be on yet. Yikes, I might have a whole year more to wait!

The bee one (my first banner) took a month.

Don't worry about it. I sometimes can't find pics of banners I submitted years ago too.

QPlantmanager I would except that I have problems making the banner.

@RickM. What a wonderful banner that you have made. Somehow I missed seeing it on the 6th! ---The full picture must be more spectacular!----

Thanks. He was a man of many talents and very modest. He retired from National 4-H Council a number of years ago. When he passed, 4-H gave me permission to create a memorial garden. I haven't been down there lately due to the pandemic, but, with the help from some of my local NGA members, I think we created a nice stretch of color. It includes a special rhododendron, lilies, lavender, echinacea, wintergreen, hellebore, fern, and on and on. I'm slowly creating special plant markers that will have a QR code to the NGA plant database so that people can find out more.

I've chronicled his passing and the gardens at In Memory of LarryK, aka Larry Krug
