We just moved into a new house last year where there were some established iris. They are doing quite well. However, I moved some from our previous house, which were doing very well there. The ones I moved now have mottled brown leaves and look terrible. I was careful to plant them shallow with the rhyzomes somewhat above the soil. They do get a little more sun than they did before. They bloomed very well this year but the leaves look very sad. Any help? Thank you

There are others on this forum that could probably answer your question better than I can. Could be a number of things. Leaf spot is the first thing that comes to mind.

What would really help is some pictures. The leaves themselves and some close-ups of the base of the plant and the rhizomes.

When did you plant the new ones?

What zone are you in? What zone were you in before?

Pictures would help, but, as stated, it's probably fungal leaf spot. Doesn't really hurt the irises, all that much, but, it is unsightly

I had this happen to one of my new irises this year. It started growing very early so frost maybe? Or does it look like disease?

hmm elsa, have you dug up some of the rhizomes? one of my irises, in fact a favorite 'dazzle, started looking like that picture. i dug up some of the rhizomes, and discovered bacterial rot. pheeeew...the smelly kind. henceforth the spot is covered with comet, bleach water, and sulfur. nothing like overkill?
