As a gardener, I check out the weather report every morning. Sometimes the weather report is spot on. And, sometimes you have to check if they have your correct zip code. From your experience, what is the best source of weather in your area?

I look at the National Weather Service and Weather.com (Weather Channel). My impression is that, around here, Weather.com is more precise. NWS seems to me to cover themselves for a large coverage area by spreading things like rain chances as alike over a large area. But neither beats a genuine certified and experienced broadcast meteorologist with very long experience in your region, if you have that kind in your area. They are not so common.

But I also look at the traditional weather map to see how seriously to take either forecast. NWS calls it the National Forecast Charts under their Analyses and Forecasts section. Wunderground (Weather Underground) has mixed surface analysis maps with both isobars and pressure areas and clouds and precipitation imaging and radar that can be animated.

Nothing and no one is as close as my outside thermometer on the front and the one on the back. My local stations are pretty good with the possible rain but because of all our mountains and hills it can be raining all day on one side of the street and sunny on the other side even the local news can get confused if it is raining or sunny on my street.

Finally as I have aged my body sure knows better what is going to happen before any weather reporters.
