i was just curious if any iris lover or any gardener might have a clue what this iris might be .?
it was purchased at a local nursery ,with no tag ,last summer, it's a very early bloomer ,first out so far ,fragrant ,a light yellow.

Good luck finding the name because there are hundreds of iris. So many of the same color iris have different common names.

i really didnt expect an ID,,i've been growing iris's for 40 yrs or more ,and know there are very many varieties.thanks

Which picture shows the color more accurately?

the top picture shows it accurately,it's almost like two colours ,changing from butterscotch to lemon yellow after curing for a day ,it even looks better today , still lemony yellow.

I'm not normally inclined to guess at these sorts of things, but think it might be 'Again and Again'

even though you're not normally inclined for guessing these sorts of things ,i do believe you may have guessed correctly in that my mystery iris is AGAIN AND AGAIN. In looking at the iris shown by BETJA,i really think it's it .
i'm curious what your opinion would be as moderator, of someone submitting an iris or any flower to a particular class even though not 100 % sure what it is, in this case mine submitted to AGAIN AND AGAIN,not that i would? thanks for the guess..

For what is worth, I'd rather have a database with no pictures at all than one with even a tiny percentage of "might be" pictures.

i agree with you ,good answer ,but a data base with no pics ,might be a little dull.i would frequent a database of unknown iris pics though ,just because they are beautiful to look at .

Al, You can post unknown iris pictures in the general "iris" category. There are lots of beautiful pictures of many kinds of irises there!

thats good to know there is a general iris category ,hey kent did u know that ? i'll have to take a wander over to that category if'n i can find it,as i do love my iris's,every morning for the next few ,my wife and i look over our two patches of iris's to see how many are appearing, 25 or so to date,have yet to bloom .

BTW - Kent is the moderator of the iris forum and is very familiar with the database and it's entries. Beyond what he said, I add please do NOT post pictures in the database of iris you are unsure of. The database is there to help in the identification of specific iris, not just a place for pretty pictures. So the general Iris category is indeed the very best place for unverified iris.

If you want to make sure your iris truly is Again and Again the best way is to obtain/buy an Again and Again and grow it side by side with your current one for comparison. Otherwise you still have a pretty iris, just with no ID.

i did know kent is a moderator of iris .
and i likely am more picky than you might be about iris's or any plants that are unknown ending up with known varieties,it is a pet peeve of mine .
as far as buying the iris AGAIN and AGAIN to see if it's the same as mine ,well that ain't gonna happen ,i'm near 70 yrs old and by the time i order it and it blooms i could be dead.
i do appreciate kent sending me his suggestion as to what it might be ,of the half dozen who did reply ,he was the only one who suggested a name.
