Early in the season, noticed some of my amaryllis were not thriving, felt the soil, way to wet, realized a pot chard had lodged in the drain hole, emptied out the soil and bulbs. Left the bulbs to dry for a few days, repotted and now they are starting up again, its going to be a few years until the bulbs get back to the size they were. Really surprised the bulb had the energy to put up 2 buds.

Good idea to check pot if you are having an unexplained growth issue. I had the same problem, the bulbs are still recovering after 3 years, but slowly and surely they are coming back.
