Thread OP

Hey everyone, though I have successfully dabbled in low level gardening in the past, I've delved much deeper than ever before due to COVID induced isolation and I've run into a problem which, I figured someone here might know the answer to.

Part of what I've planted have been an assortment of peppers and I've run into a pretty common issue with them, regardless of what type of peppers they are - they will flower, but won't fruit. The flowers will invariably wilt and fall off. I live in southern California, so I don't think temperature is an issue and I just measured the pH of the soil, which read basic. Any help would be much appreciated!

Blossom drop in peppers is a so-called abiotic disorder, meaning it's not caused by a fungus, a virus nor a pest but by the growing conditions themselves.
Among the many possible and not mutually exclusive causes are:
1)Lack of pollination
2)Large temperature drops (over 15F) from the day to the night
3)Too much nitrogen in the ground
4)Irregular watering schedule

Any of these problems may cause blossom drop and all of them bar temperature issues can be solved, but more data is needed to come up with an effective remedy.
