For the 2nd year in a row, my okra plants are dying. They grow about 3 tall, then they stop growing altogether, and their leaves start dying and fall off (before they grew up to 8ft +). They don't get any new growth and eventually become a twig sticking up out of the ground. Does anybody know what is wrong with them and how I can save them?!?!

Check for root knot nematodes. Some okra varieties are very susceptible.

Yep, nematodes. What variety of okrie are you growing. Have you ever tried planting in a pot. I put 3 plants in a pot and they do very well. And, no nematodes.

I'm growing Clemson Spineless. I haven't tried a pot. How big are the pots you use? I've got a bunch of 4x8 raised beds in my yard that I plant in.

I'm so glad someone knew what was wrong. I couldn't figure it out last year, and I was getting very frustrated to see it happening again this year with still no idea on what was wrong.

I have some success suppressing RKN by planting susceptible crops after a crop of corn or grain rye.
